About Lynette

I am currently employed by SecureWorks as a UNIX systems administrator.

Previously, I was a UNIX Systems Administrator, at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities Campus Java and Web Services (JaWS) group. I ran more than 200 Solaris and RedHat Linux systems for this group.

As you've probably gathered from the main site, I am an advanced and challenge square dance caller. If you don't know what square dancing is all about, take a look at the introductory pages.

I currently reside in Westmont, Illinois, with my partner Carri. We have a large lot, and enjoy gardening, both edibles and pretties. Check out the "gardening" link on the adjacent menu. I love the midwest; it's just a happier place to live. And yes, I like snow and winter too.

Carri and I both volunteer with P.A.C.T. Humane Society. We are committed to improving the lives of animals near us.

We have five cats of our own, along with a continuing parade of foster kitties. Smokey and The Bandit, Gussie, Otis and Rupert are the permanent residents of the Home For Aged Felines.

Music keeps me sane. Nothing is so calming as hearing Vivaldi's Mandolin Concerto; as focusing as listening to Bach's Brandenburg Concertos, or as soothing as absorbing Alan Hovhaness' Mt. St. Helens Symphony. Tchaikovsky's 5th is another favorite, as is Respighi's Botticelli Tryptich.

I've also gotten into more modern music, and enjoy techno (mostly ambient stuff). Electric Skychurch is my favorite group; their CD Knowoneness touches my soul. It's available from Moonshine Music which has cheap CD's in the general techno category. Look for Electric Skychurch under "Ambient."

I have hiked in most of the western U.S. National Parks. My favorite is Lassen National Park, in far northern California (my machine is named "lassen" after this wonderful place). I mostly day-hike out of National Park camping areas, but given more time I would like to do more extensive trips.
